What is Forslean?
Forslean® is a standardized extract from the roots of the coleus forskohlin plant.
Forselean® & Weight Loss – Forslean® is a compound with versatile biological actions based on its ability to stimulate adenylate cyclase and cyclic AMP levels. Forslean® allows stored fat to be used as energy and to help utilize readily available hormones to maintain and / or increase lean body mass. What is Acetyl L-Carnitine?
Acetyl L-Carnitine has a chemical structure very comparable to the essential nutrient, choline. It is similar to a trimethylated amino acid; however, it does not contain the amino group. Because of its similarity to amino acids, L-Carnitine was incorrectly labeled as an amino acid, however, it is actually a co-enzyme. Co-enzymes are non-protien compounds or molecules that combine with a protein to form an active enzyme. In the body, L-Carnitine acts as a co-enzyme for the transformation of free log-chained fatty acids into acyl-carnitines. Acyl-carnitines are next transported in the mitochondria, to undergo oxidation for cellular energy production. Inadequate levels of this importnant nutrient in the diet, or inadequate precursors can thus lead to mitochondrial dysfunction.

Clinical Studies:
In an 8-week, open-field, pilot study, the effect of ForsLean® on weight loss and lean body mass was tested in obese women volunteers. Each participant was advised to take 2 capsules containing 250 mg of the standardized extract (i.e. 10% forskolin) twice daily, and were examined by a physician at the inception and after 4 and 8 weeks of the study.
Participants were asked to maintain their previous daily physical exercise and eating habits. Results suggested that upon supplementation, mean values for body weight and fat content were significantly decreased (p<0.05 both), whereas lean body mass was significantly increased (p<0.05) as compared to the baseline. In conclusion, ForsLean® supplementation was found to be a safe and effective weight loss regimen.
In a another Clinical Trial by the University of Kansas where a dose of 250 mg of ForsLean® was administered twice daily there was a significantly increased lean body mass and decreased body fat in obese male subjects. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 12 week study evaluated the effect of Forskolin on body composition, testosterone, metabolic rate and blood pressure in 30 overweight and obese men. ForsLean® supplementation elicited favorable changes in body composition by significantly decreasing body fat percentage and fat mass compared with the placebo group (p≤0.05). Additionally, forskolin administration resulted in an increase in bone mass compared with the placebo group (p≤0.05). There was a trend toward a significant increase for lean body mass in the forskolin group compared with placebo (p≤0.097).
